A faithful Steward
Posted on April 3rd, 2025 by Redeemed“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? Mathew 24: 45
Jesus was telling his disciples of event to come, and how the end will look like and what we should be doing before he comes.
He told them there will be trouble every where and lawlessness will increase as never before such that love for one another will thin out, yet we are encouraged to hold on to the end.
Persecution for believers in particular will increase all because of their faith and many because of this will fall away.
Knowledge will increase and there will be great deception accompanied with signs and wonders but still the end is yet to come.
There will be such distress that there will be nothing like it before or after.
Jesus particularly told us what to watch out for and to flee for dear life when we see these signs. We were not advised to tarry but to run when we see the sign of which the prophet Daniel spoke about; 'the abomination that causes desolation', standing in the Holy place.
Just like Lot and his family were told to flee Sodom and Gomorrah and not look back least they be overtaken by the disaster in that city, so also Jesus said to run and not go back for anything when the sign of the prophet Daniel stands in the Holy place.
Daniel 12: 11, Daniel 11: 31, Matthew 24: 15 - 16.
Before the flood was released upon the earth, everything seems normal but yet God had ordered Noah and all the animals to enter the Ark in preparation for the rain that was to fall on the earth.
Now, it seems amazing that all those animals heeded the command of God and came from all over the earth to be kept alive in Noah's Ark but people never seems to understand or took notice when this vast movement of animals flocking into Noah's Ark was taking place.
In my imagination, I see people wondering what in the world the movement of animals into Noah's Ark meant, and yet standing aloof and not wanting to be associated with 'this strange man', who has been building a boat for God knows how long, and then suddenly from no where, animals come flooding into this Ark?
I am certain some of them must have asked him what all these meant but unfortunately they either didn't believe his story or made light of it.
Jesus said the end will be exactly like that. People were eating and drinking, marrying and getting married until the day when the flood came and they were all swept away.
These are very frightening illustrations of how the end time will be like, and as I studied these things I wondered how soon this will be?
Some of the signs have been fulfilled, whilst others are in the process of being fulfilled but Jesus gave a stern warning about what he expects the kingdom messengers to be doing. This is recorded in Matthew 24: 44 - 51.
No man knows when the Lord is coming back for his own but one thing is sure, he expects us to be prepared whenever he returns.
He also expect us to be about what he commands us to do - that is to continously tell others about the Kingdom of God.
Those who have continously proclaimed the message of the Kingdom he called wise and faithful, and a promise of great rewards await such steward because they have proved faithful in the little things.
Likewise those who have flowed and succumb to the pressure and expectations of men and not mindful of what the Lord’s will is, he also reserve a special place for them. 'A place with the hypocrite', He said, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Wisdom therefore demands that we review our actions and motives if they are in line with what we were called to do.
Are we involved in all manner of things such that we are neither here nor there?
Have we left our first love in pursuit of another?
God's word is like a mirror, helping us see us as we are and repent if we have drifted.
The Lord help us to retrospectively assess if we are still about His business or we have gone after ours at the expense of His.
This doesn't mean we don't live our lives but rather, to continously review things if we are drifting and to retrace our steps if we have.
God bless.
Shalom!
