John 1: 1-4

1In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.  4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Science has taught us that every living thing needs light to strive; without light the earth will be very gloomy and lifeless. It’s interesting to note that at creation, it was recorded that the earth was without form and void and God’s Spirit moved on the surface of the deep – God was surveying the earth (emphasis mine) and he decided to bring order and beauty into the confusion that was the earth.

The first thing He decided to create after surveying the formless earth was light (source of life), Genesis 1:16. Once the source of life was established, everything flowed from and through that source (Jesus Christ)!

The above Scripture tells us that Jesus is the source of life and light, and nothing came to existence without him. Life was in him (Jesus) and this life was the light that shines in men. Simply put, anything outside of Jesus has no light, if there is a lack of light, then, there is also a lack of life.

Man lived by reason of the breath of life that God breathed into his nostril. In essence, we live by the power of God. Without the breath of God quickening man, he is just a lifeless being. Genesis 2: 7. It is a wonder therefore, that men deny the source of their existence by the way they choose to live; while others even go as far as confessing that there is no God. Truth remains truth, whether we accept it or not – we only hurt ourselves by living in denial of the truth. The truth will stand the test of time, and cannot be changed, irrespective of what we think, do or say.

John 6:40 - And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. The will of God is that all should live, and since Jesus is the source of life we live through him.

God is all powerful, but He has respect for the free will he gave to man. We must all choose what we would do with the information we just received, but like in all things, every decision and action carries a consequence - we choose today and reap the consequences tomorrow. So, remember whatever you decide to do with your life, you alone will benefit from it. Your actions may hurt others, but the real consequence comes directly to you.

A branch can only be fruitful because of the nourishment it receives from the Vine it is attached to, so we cannot strive and will eventually die off if we are cut off from the Vine. The Vine supplies all the nutrients the branch needs to live and be fruitful.  Jesus is the Vine, we are the branches. If we abide in him, we shall live because of him, just as he lives because he abides in the Father. John 15: 1-10.

This profound truth is simple and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we receive grace to live!

God bless.

Have you made Jesus the LORD of your life? If not, then say this prayer:

Father, in Jesus Christ name I pray. You said in 1 John 1:9 that if we confess our sins, you are faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I am sorry and repent of all the sins I have committed. Wash me with the blood of your Son, Jesus Christ, and make me whole. Write my name in the book of life and give me the power to live for you.

Thank you Father, for it is done.
