Authenticity of the Gospel

Authenticity of the Gospel

Posted on April 10th, 2023 by Racheal

John 2:18 - 19

Then the Jews retorted, What sign can You show us, seeing You do these things? [What sign, miracle, token, indication can You give us as evidence that You have authority and are commissioned to act in this way?]

Jesus answered them, Destroy (undo) this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.

The Jews demanded to know by what authority Jesus was doing what he was doing. They pressed him for a sign and Jesus told them that the proof of what he was doing is rooted in his power over death and the grave. He was actually referring to the temple of his body having power over the last enemy of man.

The celebration of Easter therefore was the fulfillment of his declaration in John the second chapter, verse number 18. His body was destroyed when they nailed him on the cross at Calvary. With a heavy sigh, he breathed his last and said, it is finished! And then, he gave up the ghost.

He was buried with the rich as prophesied in Scriptures in a new sepulchre by Joseph of Arimathea. Luke 23:50.

On the third day, he rose from the grave, gaining victory over the most vicious  powerful enemy of man - death.

The grave could not hold him, for he had told Martha the sister of Lazarus earlier on as recorded in scriptures,

John 11:25 - 26

Jesus said to her, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live;

And whoever continues to live and believes in (has faith in, cleaves to, and relies on) Me shall never [actually] die at all. Do you believe this?

After his resurrection, he appear to many as recorded in scriptures and just before his ascension to heaven, he commissioned his disciples to go into the nations of the world and proclaim the good news of the Kingdom baptizing anyone that believes in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, promising to be with us till the end of time.

Therefore as we celebrate Easter, we are reminded that we have hope even in the life after just because He lives and has overcome for us all!

God bless.

Peace!
