Life Giving Waters

Life Giving Waters

Posted on May 23rd, 2024 by Redeemed_Racheal

Revelation 22

[1] The angel also showed me the river of the water of life, sparkling like crystal, and coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb

[2] and flowing down the middle of the city's street. On each side of the river was the tree of life, which bears fruit twelve times a year, once each month; and its leaves are for the healing of the nations.

[17] The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!”Everyone who hears this must also say, “Come!”Come, whoever is thirsty; accept the water of life as a gift, whoever wants it.

Ezekiel 47:6-9 AMP

[6]And he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?” Then he brought me back to the bank of the river. [7] Now when I had returned, behold, on the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. [8] Then he said to me, “These waters go out toward the eastern region and go down into the Arabah (the Jordan Valley); then they go toward the sea, being made to flow into the sea, and the waters of the Dead Sea shall be healed and become fresh. [9] It will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where the river goes, will live. And there will be a very great number of fish, because these waters go there so that the waters of the sea are healed and become fresh; so everything will live wherever the river goes.

Searching through scriptures, my heart and mind is illuminated and I see clearly the great love of God for man. I realized that his plans for man is continuously good. The words of a man speaks volumes of who he is. A look at the above Scriptures tells us that God is indeed love and he wants us to live in good health of mind and body.

The Old Testament first mentioned that there is a river that makes alive, which was confirmed by the New Testament that this water to wells up to become a river indeed flows from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

This water coming from the throne of God brings life to wherever it flows. The word brings life is key to understanding how this life is impacted. Scriptures tells us the trees planted at the bank of the river yields their fruits, and wherever the streams flows there will be all kinds of animals and fishes. Life will flourish when it comes in contact with the streams of this life giving water.

Have we ever wondered how the seas are made fresh such that marine’s life is sustained in spite of all the pollutions?

God who is life itself sustain all things by His Spirit!

This streams has life in it because it’s source is life itself. Jesus once told his disciples that God is life and self existent.

John 5:26 AMP

For just as the Father has life in Himself [and is self-existent], even so He has given to the Son to have life in Himself [and be self-existent].

Is no wonder therefore, that anything coming from the source of life has the power to give life. This water therefore brings life to wherever it flows.

This water bubbling in us will well up to life.

The trees along the bank of the river that the water comes in contact with provides food and the leaves are for the healing of the nations - another provision for the health of mankind. Meaning that health challenges can be addressed by the leaves of the fruits we eat.

Rev. 17 reveals to us that for us to partake of this water, we must come and accept this water as a free gift from the Father! The water brings life to wherever it flows but we have to ‘come’, proving we are thirsty, and then receive this life giving water.

The Spirit and the bride says to come all they that are thirsty.

The criteria to receive of this water is to “Come!”Come, whoever is thirsty; and you will receive the free gift of God!

Jesus had a conversation with the woman of Samaritan at Jacob’s well, and he revealed to her His identity, and how she can receive the free gift of God. Jesus’s conversation with the Samaritan woman is an eye opener of the power of the love of God, and that He is no respecter of persons.

His disciples were amazed to find him speaking with a woman, who happened to be a Samaritan!

He made no attempt to explain to them why he was speaking with this woman, rather, he showed by his lifestyle, how we should relate with all men.

John 4:4-14 Voice

[5-8] In a small Samaritan town known as Sychar, Jesus and His entourage stopped to rest at the historic well that Jacob gave his son Joseph. It was about noon when Jesus found a spot to sit close to the well while the disciples ventured off to find provisions. From His vantage, He watched as a Samaritan woman approached to draw some water. Unexpectedly He spoke to her.

Jesus: Would you draw water, and give Me a drink?

[9] Woman: I cannot believe that You, a Jew, would associate with me, a Samaritan woman; much less ask me to give You a drink. Jews, you see, have no dealings with Samaritans.

[10] Jesus: You don't know the gift of God or who is asking you for a drink of this water from Jacob's well. Because if you did, you would have asked Him for something greater; and He would have given you the living water.

[11] Woman: Sir, You sit by this deep well a thirsty man without a bucket in sight. Where does this living water come from?

[12] Are You claiming superiority to our father Jacob who labored long and hard to dig and maintain this well so that he could share clean water with his sons, grandchildren, and cattle?

[13] Jesus: Drink this water, and your thirst is quenched only for a moment. You must return to this well again and again.

[14] I offer water that will become a wellspring within you that gives life throughout eternity. You will never be thirsty again.

You can have this water if you are truly thirsty for it. The Lord promised to give us if we ask him. Hear him for yourself from the book of John:

John 7:37-39 BSB

On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. [38] Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’” [39] He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Again, Jesus said the Father is pleased to give us the Holy Spirit if we ask Him.

Luke 11:11-13 NIV

"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? [12] Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? [13] If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

The water is symbolic of the Spirit of God, who is a life giver (John 6:63). Anything He comes in contact with has life. If He comes on us we receive the life of God flowing in us and through us as seen when the bones of Elisha brought a man back to life because of the Spirit of the LORD on him, for no mention of who succeeded him was recorded in Scriptures.

At the time of Prophet Elisha’s death, Gehazi who was supposed to have succeeded him did not because of greed. And so Elisha died without handing over to anyone, and God’s gifts are without repentance.

2 Kings 13:20-21 NLT

Then Elisha died and was buried. Groups of Moabite raiders used to invade the land each spring. [21] Once when some Israelites were burying a man, they spied a band of these raiders. So they hastily threw the corpse into the tomb of Elisha and fled. But as soon as the body touched Elisha's bones, the dead man revived and jumped to his feet!

The man had contact with the bones of Elisha who had God’s Spirit resting on him! The life giving power of God’s Spirit brought this man to life.

The Old and New Testament credited that everyone that did the miraculous had the Spirit of God resting on them. The Spirit of the LORD therefore is the Power of God resting on men to help them carryon the work of God that the LORD has called them to do. Is a gift.

The earth experience life when it came into contact with the life giver - Genesis 1: 1-3, and God spoke light, light came into existence for the Spirit of God would always act on the spoken Word of God. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy - Rev 19:10.

No matter how bad a situation is, when the Power of God comes on it, a change for good will take place. Let us truly come to Him and He will give us this gift freely, for the world right now need Him so desperately.

You can ask Him to come into your life and restore you. Tell Him in your own words to help you know and experience Him in a way that your life will never be the same again.

God bless.

Peace.
