Roll Call at Midnight

Mysterious things happen in the dead of the night. Some are good, others not so good, a lot are outrightly evil.
No wonder therefore the Lord said so much about men praying and not fainting because if we don’t, we maybe overtaken by some of the nightly intrigues.
I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
- Luke 17:34 KJV
The above scriptures tells us that living for God indeed is a choice everyone will have to make. Two people maybe working, walking or even living together, but each will decide individually how they will live, and our decisions will have a lot to do whether we make it to the list of the Lamb’s book.
It is the Lamb’s book - one of the many names of Jesus, not the Lion of the tribe of Judah’s book because, Jesus as the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world was the one that was slaughtered, taking the place of mankind on the cross, and whose blood was spilled to sponge the sins of the world. Jesus as Lamb, humble, without guile was slaughtered for the redemption of mankind.
Mankind was redeemed not with might or the strength of physical warfare but submission to the divine will of God. Though the mighty Lion of the tribe of Judah, Jesus submitted to the Father’s will as a helpless Lamb, overcame and won the fierce battle that set as many as are willing free. Man will not die and be separated from God by default anymore but by choice.
God is the God of order. I have often wondered what the scene would be like when people starts responding to the calling of the Son of God to ascend to meet Him as He promised and as recorded in scriptures. (Matthew 25:6 BSB
At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’).
The enemy of our soul is fierce and relentless but God is awesome and majestic, yet kind and merciful.
He makes even His Sun to shine on both the good and evil. Even in judgement God is very fair. He repeatedly send out warnings before judgement falls.
For anyone interested, scriptures are being fulfilled everyday. Time is running out, knowledge is increased everyday, and a lot of people are drawn away from focusing on the most important things.
Of course we will work, but we must do so with the awareness of the time we live in. We will live as sojourners, a people on a journey to a city whose builder and maker is God.
Scriptures made it clear that even the elects could be deceived if they are not paying attention; and it is becoming increasingly difficult to be razor focus but with the help of the Helper, we will retrace our steps once we become aware we are drifting.
We must therefore reassess our activities frequently if they are in line with our callings or not, and adjust accordingly.
Apostle Paul said, the things I want to do I find myself not doing and I end up doing the things I don’t want to do.
- Roman 7:19-25
There is a constant struggle going on between the spirit and the flesh, and it takes deliberate effort to keep living according to the leadership of the Spirit.
The enemy of our souls will not stop trying to derail our efforts to live for God but thank God, a price was paid for our redemption and that price gave us the victory over the enemy. We will therefore walk and live in that victory.
The story of the ten virgins as recorded in Matthew 25, is a call to people of faith that no one is immune to the risk of drifting. The only antidote to drifting infinitely is to constantly access how we are fairing in terms of our relationship with the LORD.
A good place to start from is comparing what state we are in with the Word of God to the seven churches recorded in Revelation the second and third chapters.
Some of the people in the Churches were recommended and others were told to repent least according to Jesus, He will come like a thief…Revelation 3: 3.
Jesus said to be watchful because we do not know the day He will come. He further instructed to be vigilant because we don’t know the hour of the night He will come, and so for this reason, we must be watchful.
- Matthew 24: 42-45.
Jesus knew when His hour came because He was watching, and it came in the night. When Judas came with those he betrayed him to, he knew and was ready because He prayed all through the night and He was strengthened to go through it.
When the call goes out to ascend, will we hear it or would we be sleeping? Even if we are sleeping physically if we are in tune with His Spirit, by His quickening when the call booms to ascend, we will not be ashamed to meet Him because we will be clothed with His righteousness.
The times we live in are very interesting times; times when everyone is on their toes, and the world is in a rush to fulfill words spoken long ago.
When the roll call begins, and names called out, how will we fair? Will it be regrets or joy for us?
My prayer is that we will be awake, ready and able to hear when the LORD comes calling.
God bless.
Peace!
