Whispers
Posted on October 16th, 2025 by RachealLife's choices are the bedrock of the future. Alot happens and we live out our choices as we progress through life.
Choices are powerful steers wheeling us to a future many are not even conscious of. Their destination has been determined even before they started.
Yes, you already choose your destination by the choices you are making.
God's plans are good not evil, to give us a hope and a future - a future we must allow ourselves to live by the choices we make.
The future we envisage is dependent on our actions today, a fallout of our choices.
If choices are so important, why then are we not putting in all the attention and seriousness it deserves?
Alot of people 'pass through' the decision processes without a thought for the consequences.
Actions and reactions are equal and opposite. You birth something with every action and decision you take - the consequences maybe desirable or not.
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
- (Matthew 4:3)
Jesus was once faced with a very difficult situation. He had fasted for 40 days, a fast that was orchestrated by the Holy Spirit and he was very hungry.
His needs therefore was food, he needed to eat and that need was very genuine.
Behold, one that whispers came to take advantage of him through His needs.
'Command that these stones be made bread'...the Whisperer is still speaking...through your desires, your needs, your cravings...can you discern it?
God had made provisions for the food after Jesus fasted for forty days, for Scriptures tells us, Angels came and ministered to Him...but the enemy came to see if he could stop the original by presenting the counterfeit.
May our mind of understanding be opened to discern what is freely given us by our Father from what is demanding our souls in exchange for whatever.
God's gifts are without the sorrow, no exchange for nothing, its free and a gift from Him to us.
The only thing is that He prepares us through many processes to handle what He has freely given us.
What is whispering to you?' Turn these stones into bread...
Jesus gave the right answer to the Whisperer... "It is written: 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.'"
- Matt 4:4
Alot is happening these days, and we can hardly keep up with the demands of our time.
Looking critically at what we pursue as a people it could be summed up in the temptation of Jesus, and this is;
[ ] Food for our bellies
[ ] The desire to proof we are something special, a force to be reckoned with
[ ] Greed and the pride of life
Man no doubt needs food to stay healthy and function. The Lord knows we need food and that is why He said, If He cares about the Lillies and provides them food, and even knows the numbers of our hairs how much more those created in His image and likeness?
He wants us to trust Him for our needs, and we honour Him if we do so.
We don't need to go into all manner of whatnot for God is able to supply all our needs.
When Jesus gave the Whisperer a sounding 'no' to all the suggestions and temptation brought to him, Scriptures said, Angel were sent to minister to His needs.
God already made the provisions, all he needed was to trust that He is able.
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong in legitimately doing something that puts food on our table. Turning stones to bread is abnormal, for everything produces its kind Scriptures says.
Even the water Jesus turned into wine, is its kind since its liquid. Scriptures says it tasted, not look like wine, when Jesus gave the command to fetch from the jars of water and give to the master of ceremonies.
- John 2: 9-10
This brings us to the second point - the desire to prove that we are something special, something more than we truly are.
This is another powerful urge mankind fights with. So much has transpired because we want to prove a point.
There is nothing wrong with striving to improve ourselves and being a better version of what we were.
What is scary is if we willfully put ourselves or others in harms way just to prove a point.
I am not going to do something when I know it will hurt me or someone just to prove to someone that I am who God says I am. You either believe it or not, and it ends there. But if I find myself in danger or anything of such, I will call on the name of the One who has promised to keep me and He will come to my rescue!
Finally, we come to the most devastating craving of mankind....coveteousness and the pride of life.
Interesting my research made me realised that these follows in a sequential order.
Most people overcome the food temptation, and when they do so realised, they suddenly wants to prove to everyone that they are special.
This is not thesame as working to improve oneself, but rather a dangerous and destructive desire that would push someone to the extreme of harming self or others just to prove a point!
People would do dangerous things to outwit others. They would fabricate tales to destroy others without qualms and would go to any length to show to anyone who is intrigued that they are who they want you to believe they are.
The fruit would make one wise and be like God, the Whisperer said. They were both convinced and ate and life has never been thesame again.
- Gen 3: 4 - 6
There is a promise, then another, and another, and before long, you realise, something has gone really wrong.
The true picture is always hidden, not shown, until you allow yourself to be fed with the tales that are half baked.
The Whisperer never told them they would truly die...you will be like God was what they needed to hear to blow up their ego and self worth.
So sad that thesame storyline still work, because man is only human. We believe it will happen to someone else not us. We seems to think we are invisible.
Then comes the most destructive vice - coveteousness and the pride of life!
This was what brought death to the human race and is still a problem even now.
Adam and his wife had no food issues, so the Whisperer attempted the second and third vices - the desire to be more than human, and the pride of life.
The Whisperer knew these are vices that could destroy the strongest of all men.
When this comes in, you become self destructive, because pride comes before a fall.
Pride will destroy quicker than anything because it brings you directly into conflict with God.
The Whisperer experienced it himself and fell for it (Ezekiel 28: 17 - 19), and he has made sure everyone have a taste of it, but by the power of the Most High, we will overcome, and by the blood of the lamb we have overcome.
Adam and his wife fell for it flat, but thank God, the second Adam overcame, and as many that would tame their desires and trust in God would also overcome.
I realised that all the troubles of this world stems from these three - food for the belly, the desire to be something more than we truly are, and coveteousness and the pride of life.
Tame these and we have a beautiful world.
God bless.
Peace!
