Saving the Best for the Last
Posted on October 27th, 2021 by RedeemedJeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
God most times work long-term. That does not mean He will not intervene in our immediate predicaments; and His rewards and blessings are last longing - without sorrows or pains.
If God tells you that He will bless you, for sure He will bless you. The problem is; are we willing for God to work it out?
Scripture abound of God’s promises to His people and how He worked out things in His own way and time, according to His purpose.
Much can be said of men and women who against all odds held tenaciously to the promises of God; even when it seems all hope was gone, and the impossible loomed gloomily in their faces. Suddenly like lightening, God showed up; and a situation that seems impossible and final changed for the best; for it is written “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”. Isaiah 40:31
Jacobs was a man of great faith. Though his beginning was laced with all manner of intrigues like most of us, he soon learned to trust God in everything. The account of Jacob and Joseph is a best in class lesson of how great sufferings, but trusting in the God who avenges and saves turned out to be a classic story of the ‘best being saved for the last’. Genesis 45:26-28
I couldn’t help the tears that flowed unashamedly from my eyes as I read the account of how Joseph’s brother hated him for the love their father showered on him and the call of God on his life; which he shared with them freely, not knowing that it would be the greatest undoing of his life. Through their schemes and actions, God worked out what would have been a great disaster into something beautiful beyond imagination. He is indeed the God that saves!
The account continues of how Jacob was truly devastated when he thought he had lost Joseph to wild animals; only to find out later that God had been working things out for not only Joseph but by extension his family and the entire then world. For scriptures told us that the whole world went to Egypt to buy food and be kept alive just because of the finished work God had done in the life of Joseph. Gen 46:1-3
God indeed is the greatest strategist that ever existed and will ever exist. He knows the end from the beginning, and will work out things for us beyond our wildest imagination.
Indeed, God’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Isaiah 55:9
He made ways where there seems to be none, paths He creates for us in the wilderness of life; and spoke into beings those things that were not as though they were. God indeed is Omniscience!
What of the account of Jesus Christ? Scriptures tells us that the Pharisees and Sadducees hated Him for the mighty things God was doing in and through Him; for no one could do the things He was doing unless God was with Him. In spite of this recorded about Him, their hatred of Him was greater than their love for God and His ways. And so they plotted to have Him killed; but true to the character of God, He used the very thing they meant for evil and worked out such everlasting victory for Himself and mankind. His plans are interwoven into the challenges we face.
Scripture tells us in 1 Cor 15:54 - 55 Oh death, where is your victory, oh grave, where is your sting. Death and the grave the final enemy will be swallowed up and the victory over them will be absolute; and so is fulfilled to the last word, ‘God saves the best for the last’!
Alleluia to the LORD God Omnipotent reigns!
