If you are the Son of God

If you are the Son of God

Posted on June 6th, 2023 by Redeemed

Matthew 4:3

And the tempter came and said to Him, If You are God's Son, command these stones to be made [loaves of] bread.

Jesus need not prove to anyone that He is who he is. We will all have to decides if we would accept this truth or not though what we choose to believe or disbelieve cannot change who he is.

It’s same with God, whether we believe He is God or not doesn’t affect Him in anyway, anyone who chooses to test His Godship is only undoing his or herself. He is, and was and will be forever.

A lot of people have found themselves in deep trouble just because they choose to prove a needless point. No one should coarse you into something just because they want you to prove something.

It will do us a lot of good if we tow the path of Jesus. No matter the pressure the tempter exerted, He choose his own path and action, and refused to be pressured into something he wasn’t meant to do. He is the Son of God, a point that need no proving.

2 Corinthians 10:12

Not that we [have the audacity to] venture to class or [even to] compare ourselves with some who exalt and furnish testimonials for themselves! However, when they measure themselves with themselves and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding and behave unwisely.

2 Corinthians 10:18

For [it is] not [the man] who praises and commends himself who is approved and accepted, but [it is the person] whom the Lord accredits and commends.

God will honour His name anyway He wants, He needs no affirmation from anyone. Trying to do something because some one expects you to, or say something just to prove a point may backfire.

Do you have convictions? Do as you are lead by your convictions. No one should pressure you into doing what you know you shouldn’t be doing. Follow your convictions.

The Pharisees once asked Jesus for a sign to validate who He was, and why he was doing what he was doing. He simply told them the truth and would not allow them to pressure him for a sign.

Mark 8:11-12 NIrV

The Pharisees came and began to ask Jesus questions. They wanted to test him. So they asked him for a sign from heaven. [12] He sighed deeply. He said, "Why do you people ask for a sign? What I'm about to tell you is true. No sign will be given to you."

We live in a world where we want to be validated by some value sets men have come up with. If you fall short of those value sets then you are termed a failure by them.

Apostle Paul have news for us; those who measure themselves with themselves are unwise. We should seek the commendation that comes from God, which is the highest commendation and accreditation anyone can receive.

Unfortunately many people care little about what God thinks or is saying about them, rather we pursue with all vigour the praises that comes from men.

Seeking first God’s Kingdom and His way of doing things gives us peace at the end of the day. It’s like building a house on the rock. The wind will blow on it, the storm will blast it and the rain will fall on it. It will bend, looking tattered and distraught but it will stand, because it was built on the rock. It is like mount Zion that is surrounded by mountains and cannot be moved.

Jesus was extremely hungry after fasting for forty day and the enemy suggested he used his power and authority as the Son of God to produce bread from stone. Jesus knew this was wrong because he need not turn any stone to bread - a test to prove a point. The Kingdom of God is not about competition but about services, irrespective of the call on one’s life, we serve God and one another. Jesus said it this way, he that wants to be the greatest must be the least. We must be like children in order to enter the Kingdom of God.

God bless.

Peace!
