Jesus, the Expression of God’s love

Jesus, the Expression of God’s love

Luke 2:10-14 ASV

And the angel said unto them, Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people: [11] for there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. [12] And this is the sign unto you: Ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger. [13] And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, [14] Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men in whom he is well pleased.

Christmas is that time when one should reminiscence on the goodness of God. A time to reflect deeply on what the birth of Jesus meant to the human race.

God became man, subjected to the elements of this world such that he felt what man felt, yet lived a sinless life.

A virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call His name Jesus, for He shall save his people the Angel Gabriel said.

Jesus’ purpose of taking on humanity therefore was to liberate man from the burden of sin and its consequences. Sin gift to those who are under its influence a burden so heavy yet not recognized by those it has held captive such that its weight is not even acknowledge because society has rebranded and repackaged it with beautiful wraps.

It’s wages is death scriptures says. No matter what name society has given it, the Word of God stands sure forever. Death is the last bus stop if one allows sin to run their lives.

No amount of whitewashing will change its consequences, but God in Jesus Christ changed all that when He entered the earth realm legally through the supernatural birth of Jesus Christ by Mary, brought about by the Power of the Holy Spirit. He is one hundred percent God and one hundred percent man, and because He is called the Son of man, he could also plea on behalf of the man after He paid the supreme price for mankind.

He was found worthy to approach the Father and take and open the scroll that no one in heaven and on earth was found worthy to open, because He paid the price for the redemption of man.

As we celebrate Christmas, let’s not forget that Jesus was gifted to mankind by the Father so anyone who is willing can find escape from the default consequences of sin that awaits all men.

Why do we keep talking even when it seems no one pays attention to what we say?

We talk because, it’s what we were commanded to do, and people can only take action on what they hear. We speak, but God does the saving so that there would be no room for boasting, for we are all tools in the hand of the Almighty. (Romans 10:14-15 NLT But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? [15] And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, "How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!").

Proverbs 24:11-12 TPT

Go and rescue the perishing! Be their savior! Why would you stand back and watch them stagger to their death? [12] And why would you say, “But it’s none of my business”? The one who knows you completely and judges your every motive is also the keeper of souls—and not just yours! He sees through your excuses and holds you responsible for failing to help those whose lives are threatened.

If we hold our peace when we should not, and If Jesus had refused to come because He is not the one to perish and had said, none of my business to humanity’s destruction, I am sure there would be no need for Christmas. If the Father had paid deaf ear to mankind after they revolted against Him in the garden of Eden and rejoiced that man was getting the due punishment it deserved, then Christmas wouldn’t have been.

Christmas therefore, is God showing up for man despite our not being worthy of His goodness, mercies and kindness. It is God descending to take the form of one of His creature, taking the lowly place of man in order to redeem fallen man. It is the love of the Father expressed in the giving of the Son, to take the punishment for the sin of man, because man didn’t possess the capacity to pay the debt it owed. It is God, overlooking the wickedness and foolishness of man, and offering men another chance to say yes to Him, even when our choices demands a due reward of condemnation and death.

If God had to go this far to redeem man, it’s not too much if we are sent to tell of what He has done so that everyone that believes will live.

Have a blessed Christmas as you celebrate God’s gift to the children of men.

Peace.
