Opening of the books

Posted on November 15th, 2024 by Redeemed!

Revelation 1:19  Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

God is an excellent record keeper. He has given commands to His Angels to write and record the events that are happening now, that had happened and that will happen hereafter.

The angels are always writing, taking records of our lives, the things we do in secrets and in the open.
Nothing is hidden from the gaze of God for all things are seen by Him. (Hebrew 4:13).

There's someone always recording the conducts of our lives, the good deeds we do for the sake of God and the good of humanity, the schemings and connivings, the hatred and murder, the envy and jealousy, the bitterness and unforgiveness, the backstabbing and gossips, the coveteousness and the stealing, the falsifications and the lies; the list goes on and on. The history of our lives are kept in what scriptures calls, the books.

In the books are the pages of how we lived our lives, a revelation of who we really are.
They are a true records of our values, our relationships, our beliefs, hatred and love.

Contained in the pages of the books are true records of the things we represent irrespective of what we claim to be.

Scriptures tells us nothing is hidden from God. One may want to know what the purpose of these record keeping is.
Why has God commanded His Angels to keep an account of how each man has lived their lives?

We can find the answers to the above question in the book of Daniel 7: 9-10 and Revelation 20: 12.

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire.  (Daniel 7:9)

A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.  (Daniel 7:10)

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.  (Revelation 20:12)

The above scriptures tells us that our deeds will be judged based on what is recorded in the books.
In the books contains the accounts of our lives!
Our works will be judged according to what is written in the books which are the records of our dealings here on earth.

How have we lived? Is it able to stand the test of God's righteousness?

The great and the small stood before him to be rewarded or punished according to what they did.

As we stand to give an account of our lives, we stand as we were created, stripped of all titles and privileges we had on earth; for scriptures recorded that thrones were cast down and the Ancient of days took His sit on His throne, to judge and reward as recorded in the books.

Knowing very well that our conducts will pass through the fire, how therefore should we live?
Should we live carelessly thinking that it all ends here on earth?

Well, for our information it doesn't end here on earth. For the dead, small and great stood before God to receive the reward of their conducts on earth!

The scriptures we read mentioned two categories of records kept. Scriptures calls it the books and another book.

In the books are the records of our works, the things we did in our life time. This books are the works of man's standard devoid of God's grace. They are all conducts or deeds measured by the standard man decided to apply on their lives; and the records credited to them as recorded in the books of their lives will be judged against the standard of God.

But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.  (Isaiah 64:6)

The righteousness of man is likened to a filthy rag and cannot stand the righteous standard of God.
For this reason God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, so He can take our place, bearing on his body the righteous judgement of God for the sin of man.
He died in our place,  buried and the third day raised to life. And gave as many that would believe the righteousness that comes by faith.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.  (Romans 8:29)

Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.  (Romans 8:30)

As many that would accept the gift of God in Christ Jesus, God would make to conform to the image of His Son, that Jesus might be the first born amongst many brethren.
These are called and justified (made righteous) by God and will be also gloried by Him.
These people who will be glorified by God has their names written in the lamb's book of life.

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.  (Revelation 3:5)

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.  (Revelation 13:8).

One common denominator of those whose names are written in the book of life is that they choose to live for God and so God gave them the righteousness that comes by Faith.
They are made righteous through the blood of the Lamb and Jesus confesses before His Father that they're His.

These set of people's names will be recorded in the book of life and so their names are in Jesus' book of life.

They cannot be judged by what is in the books because they have no such records.
Jesus' record is their record for they have been made righteous by faith in God's Son.
They have escaped the judgement of the world.

These are very serious issues which everyone born into this world should ponder on.

You will be amongst one of the categories of people mentioned in scriptures. And you will either escaped the judgement of the world or be judged according to your own righteousness which cannot stand the standard of God.

The choice is yours, please choose wisely.

God bless as you make that decision.

If you have decided to chose Jesus please say this prayer of faith.

Lord Jesus, I believe that you died in my place, was buried and is risen from the death.
Please forgive me my sins and be Lord over my life.
Give me the power of sonship so I can live for you.

Amen.
