The Power of the Cross

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
The plans and purposes of God concerning redemption were revealed in the Cross of Jesus Christ.
It was recorded in Isaiah 53: 5 that his sufferings and pains will bring us forgiveness for our sins and healing to our bodies.
Colossians 2: 14 - 15 tells us our sins and its consequences were rendered void by Jesus when he emptied His blood for us at the Cross - His life was given for ours.
Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. He is the forerunner; the first in all things. His suffering and finally his death and resurrection was second to none, and he promised his followers they would also have to carry their cross and follow after him…Matthew 10: 58.
Jesus told His followers, the world would treat them the way they had also treated him, but again there is cause for joy for he has overcome the world.
At the cross Jesus won the victory over our enemy. As the nails were driven into his hands, the written codes with its regulations that had opposed us, working against our advancement, accusing us, inflicting sicknesses on us were nailed to the cross. Haven nailed them to the cross, Jesus freed Himself from the Cross and disarm powers and authorities and lead them captives. He made a public show of them, triumphing over them all at the Cross!
Christ won the victory over the enemy of our souls at the Cross and restored man back to the Father. Before He breathed His last as He hung on the Cross, His blood emptied for the redemption of the souls of mankind, He cried, It Is Finished - (atoned for, paid for in full), the debt mankind owed as a result of sin was paid in full, paving way for salvation for anyone that would believe in Jesus Christ and His supreme sacrifice on the Cross.
Scripture recorded in Luke 24: 46 that the third day He rose from the dead; triumphing over the Cross, death and the grave.
Oh death, where is thy sting, or grave, where is thy victory?..1 Corinthian 15: 55 The sting of death which is sin and the power of the grave was consumed by the superior power of the sacrificial death of Christ at the Cross.
Our glory is therefore in the Cross, for though it was painful and all hope seems lost…alas! it was there the victory was won!
No wonder, the song writer was inspired to compose a beautiful song about the Cross….
In the Cross, in the Cross, be my glory ever
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river!
Alleluia for the Cross!
